ITALIAN FORUM CULTURAL CENTRE
COMMUNITY & COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENT, LEICHHARDT
Designed by Luigi Staiano of Brewster Hjorth Architects, the centre has an overall area of 1450m2, and comprises a 320-seat auditorium, in addition to a multimedia centre, gallery, and bar area. Also service rooms, change rooms and green rooms for all the performers, toilets and bathrooms, and lighting and audio visual control rooms are included.
The Performance Hall has a sprung floor of 300sq m and a height to the main ceiling of 6.9m. The venue is acoustically insulated to a minimum of Rw45. Based on AS/NZS 2107:2000, a reverberation time of approximately 0.8-0.9s as measured in the mid-frequencies (500Hz and 1000Hz) will permit the Performance Hall to possess good acoustic qualities for a variety of uses such as live and pre-recorded music, in addition to supporting speech related activities.
The Performance Halls ideal use includes theatre and dance rehearsals and master classes, ballroom and disco nights, orchestra and soloist rehearsals, business and official functions, book and product launches, exhibitions and the like (POPE allowed number of people: 550). It is also suitable for banquets, wedding celebrations and sit down functions.
What we have delivered is one of the best equipped centres of its kind, and once again demonstrates that no project is beyond our capabilities. The centre is a vibrant and exciting place to visit and provides a quality venue of entertainment that Sydney requires.
