CHRISTIAN BROTHERS INDEPENDENT LIVING FACILITIES ON ST PATRICKS COLLEGE

Named and opened by the Christian Brothers as Treacy Villa, The Christian Brothers Independent Living Facilities were built on land surrounding the grounds of Saint Patrick’s College at 23 to 25 Francis Street, Strathfield.

Designed by Alex Coutts of Alexander Coutts & Associates Architects, to house the Christian Brothers themselves, the project involved extensive renovations of two existing single storey federation style houses sitting at the front of the site, with the construction and integration of a new two level building to the rear of the site, where most of the accommodation is provided.

The accommodation alone consists of 8 self contained individual rooms as well as visitors quarters. On the property, there is also a chapel, 2 common rooms, large kitchen areas, dining room, living / lounge areas and laundry facilities, and the building is serviced by a centrally located lift. A workshop, tool shed, and barbeque area is also provided on the premises for the brothers convenience. The landscaped garden areas comprises Australian natives and have been designed with easy of care and maintenance in mind.
