This project involves the refurbishment and alterations to the rear part and the demolition and rebuilding of the front part of the Aged Care Facility building.

The work which is proposed for the rear part of the building generally consists of refurbishing the interior to modernise the facility and to ensure compliance with relevant BCA and accessibility requirements. The works will create an Aged Care Facility which has the capacity to accommodate up to 76 patients and a maximum of 14 staff at any one time.

In terms of the new structure at the front of the site, this part of the building will include new wards for the patients and communal and staffing areas. A terrace area is pro- posed for the new extension at first floor level.

While the proposed works will maintain the number of beds at the Whitehall Aged Care Facility, the premises will be refurbished to provide the residents with a more modern residence and ensure state of the art care and equipment will be available to them. The revamp of the premises will make efficient use of existing infrastructure and services .

Furthermore, the new front part of the building, together with the internal alterations to the rear portion, will render a building of high quality design which will provide an attractive aesthetic for the street and neighbourhood.

Ashburn House is the benchmark for aged care facilities, and as our clients intended, it has been built to feel more like a hotel than an aged care facility, and this in itself separates it from hospital like facilities.
